The addition of Star to Disney Plus came to mixed reactions: Many people complained that they only subscribed to the streaming service for their children, and Star’s non-child friendly selection was of no interest, especially when coupled with the price increase for those who didn’t lock their discounts in early.

However, today, the 23rd of February, is the day all the new content goes live and there are some gems amongst them.

What’s Missing

There’s good stuff in there, for people who have a subscription anyway, but nothing that’s going to blow anyone anyway. Few people would look at this list and make that their reason to subscribe, and there are some noticeable absences, born of licensing issues.

For example, all Die Hard movies are on Disney’s Star; except Die Hard itself. Kingsman is there, but not its sequel. Shondaland’s Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy are there, but How To Get Away With Murder isn’t (Netflix still has that). All of those inconsistencies and absences are likely to be resolved as licenses expire and legal ambiguities are ironed out.

For now though, while some may remain unconvinced, there’s a few extra things to watch when the kids aren’t re-watching Frozen for the 84th time. And with that, I’m going to go and re-watch Lost.
